Every year, clubs get an allocation for District Designated Funds (DDF) for your district and global grants. These funds come from The Rotary Foundation donations to the Annual Fund-SHARE that your club members gave 3 years ago.  A good portion of these donations go back to your club for projects you design and execute.

Our District application of a little over 100 projects was approved by Rotary International and the funds will be in your club’s Grant Account soon for you to fund your projects. We know that there will be some happy Lahainaluna students that will get new band instruments from the Lahaina club when school starts; school supplies will go to Lunalilo School from Ala Moana club, to the Kumu’s Cupboard from Kauai; and funds will go to a Papua New Guinea water project from Honolulu Sunset, Kaneohe and Windward Sunrise. This project will take place in August.  This is your donation to The Rotary Foundation hard at work!

SHARE and The District Designated Fund

Through the SHARE system, contributions to The Rotary Foundation are transformed into grants that fund local and international humanitarian projects, scholarships, and activities, such as vocational training teams. At the end of every Rotary year, contributions directed to the Annual Fund-SHARE from all Rotary clubs in the district are divided between the World Fund and the District Designated Fund (DDF), after 5% is deducted for operating expenses.

At the end of three years, your district can use the DDF to pay for Foundation, club, and district projects that your club and others in the district choose. Districts may use up to half of their DDF to fund district grants. The remaining DDF may be used for global grants or donated to PolioPlus, the Rotary Peace Centers, or another district.
