A MESSAGE FROM YOUR DISTRICT GOVERNOR

Aloha Fellow Rotarians,

It is with heartfelt excitement and deep gratitude that I step into the role of District Governor for Rotary District 5000 as of July 1. I’m honored to serve alongside each of you as we continue to build on the incredible legacy of service, leadership, and fellowship that defines Rotary in Hawai‘i.

First and foremost I want to congratulate all the incoming club officers and boards, as well as the District Leadership Team for their dedication and commitment to further Rotary's mission to do good in the world.  We want to continue the work of those who have traveled this Service Above Self path.

Picture me—cowgirl hat on, lasso in hand—not just ready to wrangle cattle but to unite our incredible members across the islands! I’m here to support and uplift our clubs as we work together to make a lasting impact through meaningful projects, memorable club experiences, and the genuine friendships that connect us.

My journey with Rotary began back in 1988 as the first woman to join the Rotary Club of Hilo. Since then, I’ve had the joy of serving in many roles, including Club President during our club’s 100th anniversary year. Professionally, I’ve spent four decades leading Day-Lum Rentals Management, and I’ve been fortunate to blend my passion for business with a lifelong dedication to community service.

This past year has been especially humbling, with recognitions from the YWCA’s “Remarkable People” celebration, Pacific Business News’ Women Who Mean Business, and the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Women-Owned Business of the Year—all reminders of the power of purpose and community.

But none of it compares to the inspiration I get from you—my fellow Rotarians—who show up every day with heart, hope, and a willingness to serve. I look forward to riding this next chapter together, hand in hand, club by club, as we continue to "Do Good in the World."

Let’s make this a year of connection, impact, and joyful service.

With aloha and appreciation,
Nancy Cabral
