ShelterBox is responding to the growing crisis in the Horn of AfricaAcross the region, which includes Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Sudan, more than 20 million people have been affected by the worst drought in over 40 years and need humanitarian assistance. People face several crises at once, including increasing food prices due to drought and locust infestation, flooding, and COVID-19. Current reports suggest at least 5.6 million people are displaced from their homes, searching for food and water–underscoring the need for shelter aid like ours.
ShelterBox will be providing emergency shelter aid to 13,000 displaced people in Ethiopia, including tarps, rope, and other essentials. These items will allow them to build temporary homes and protect themselves from the elements.
This is a major humanitarian crisis that has largely been overshadowed by the war in Ukraine but that experts believe will continue to get worse. You can make a difference by supporting this work or simply spreading awarenessClick here to learn more.
