Benson Medina is a member of the Rotary Club of South Hilo and has been a Rotarian since 2015. He has been president of his club twice and has also served as the Foundation Chair, Community Service Chair and the Club Trainer.  Since 2019, he has served as the District Learning Facilitator (Trainer), as a faculty member of the District Leadership Academy and as a member of the District Leadership Team.

Benson is a Paul Harris Fellow, has served on the selection committee for the Hawaii Youth Rotary Foundation (HYRF) Scholarships, been a facilitator for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Camps on Hawaii Island and is currently on the Education Committee for Southwest PETS in Los Angeles.
 
Since 2019, Benson has also been the president of Hui ʻOihana, the Hawaii Island Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce and serves on many community boards and committees.  He is an Investment Partner with Sustainability Partners of Phoenix, Arizona, a company that provides critical infrastructure to governments, universities, schools and hospitals in the State of Hawaii.

Benson lives in Hilo with his wife Zeda and is father of four children, a grandfather of eight and a great-grandfather of five.  He is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools, plays Hawaiian music in his spare time and is a member of Hula Halau O Kawanakoa of Keaukaha.
