Aloha friends, Thank you again for your support and enthusiasm for Centennial Park Waikīkī. I’m delighted to announce that a significant milestone has been reached this month. We are beginning the last major phase of construction on the park, started on Monday, July 27, 2026.  The renovation project will remove the existing chain link fence and install new, sturdy decorative metal fencing atop the exterior surrounding rock wall.  It will require the closure of the park throughout the approximately three-month renovation effort. The project is expected to be finished, and the park reopened for public use, by the end of October 2026. Interior park maintenance and volunteer assistance is expected to continue during the closure.

The approximately $310,000 Phase 2, Increment 3 project is being conducted with assistance from Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, David’s Fencing Inc., PLK Contractors, and Cultural Surveys Hawai‘i.

We hope you will share the good news with your friends, family and neighbors. As a donor and supporter, you know that creating Centennial Park has been a community effort of many individuals and organizations over the last 10 years.

Donations from Rotarians, businesses, individuals, and grants from local and national foundations, like the recent AARP Community Challenge Grant, have brought the project to this long-anticipated “Finish the Park” stage. We are now raising funds for Increment 4, the last component, which will install additional landscaping, as well as historic, educational and donor recognition signage.
