Rotary clubs can respond to the urgent needs of students and families at Keʻelikōlani Middle School (KMS). With SNAP benefits stopping as of November 1, nearly 60% of KMS students whose families rely on food assistance will face serious food insecurity. Club have an opportunity to respond quickly and meaningfully.
💛 How to Get Involved
- Donate online: https://rcodh.square.site/
- Share our flyer: Post to social media and email your network.
- Volunteer: Reply to this email if you can help shop or pack on Nov 6–7.
Every act of generosity makes an immediate impact for families right here in our community. Together, we can fill pantries, lift spirits, and support KMS students through this challenging time.
The RCDH Board is beginning to plan next steps, but given the evolving impacts of the federal shutdown on vulnerable families, we’ll remain flexible and ready to adjust as needed.
🗓️ Proposed Plan
1️⃣ Online Fundraiser (Oct 29 – Nov 6) set up our Square donation page: https://rcodh.square.site/
2️⃣ Food Purchase & Packing (Thu Nov 6 – Fri Nov 7)
Once fundraising totals are reviewed, we’ll plan a portion of food purchases at Costco, Sam’s Club, Safeway, Foodland, or elsewhere to maximize our impact. Coordinating with Principal Joe and KMS staff to identify specific food items that are most needed.
Need additional club volunteers to assist with shopping and packing. Please let us know if you are willing and able to assist.
We’ll hold our club meeting on Friday Nov 7 but dedicate that time to this hands-on service project, assembling food kits for KMS families and do other shopping if necessary.
Mahalo to everyone for embodying Service Above Self and our 2025–2026 theme, Unite for Good.
With gratitude and aloha,
