The Rotary Club of Kona took over leadership and operation of the Kona Brewers Festival charity event in partnership with the Rotary Club’s of West Hawaii and donated roughly 50 k to local organizations/charities. Beneficiaries represented youth initiatives, culture and history, the environment, and food security. We purchased a cardboard shredder and donated it to Kealakehe High School’s Ag Dept. They are now taking cardboard destined for the landfill and making planters and other useful items and winning awards on the way. We continue to support food security by participating in “Meet and Eat” which provides food for families in need. We are supporting the start-up of a Satellite Club in Ka'u who’s focus us food security.
